FAQ SECTION SEE BELOW!  IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS NOT ANSWERED-please contact Elyse at jarardeb@cinci.rr.com

Note about registrations:  This year, HFP Racing is using a new registration site that is very user and athlete friendly.  If you need to change your status, or decide to switch from the tri to the du, or defer to next year, you can easily do it through the registration site!  Just another great way to make it easy to reach your goals.

Also, check out www.beex.org to design your own personal fundraiser for your race.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
(submit YOUR questions to elysej@venus4her.com)

1) Is there a place to change in between events?
There IS a bathroom located in the pool area, however we strongly discourage you to use it to change during the race.

2) What do I wear??
There are many types of specialty clothing you can purchase.  Tri suits are specially made to swim, bike and run easily without causing chafing, and dry quickly.  If you are just starting out, you can wear a bathing suit and put on shorts at your transition area.  Be aware: women should wear a sports specific bra for proper support during the run.

3) What should I do to get ready for the event?
There are a few training programs in the Cincinnati area.  Venus Fitness for Her holds a tri training program for women starting in May.  Go to www.venus4her.com for more info or call Elyse at 513-368-9319.

4) How is the swim organized?
The swim takes place in the Lou Eves Municipal Pool.  Athletes line up and enter the water every 20 seconds and swim in a serpentine fashion through the lanes.  Athletes "seed" themselves based on how fast or slow they predict they will finish the swim.  If you are a fast swimmer, stand near the front; if you are a slow swimmer, then stand near the back.  You will be able to talk to others in line to figure out the best place for you.

5) Can I use a mountain bike, or a non-road bike?
Absolutely!  A road bike makes life a lot easier, but you use the bike you feel comfortable on, as long as it is safe to ride and in good working order.

6)  Can I wear a wetsuit?
This triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT), so we will obey the rules of this sanctioning body.  Generally, a wetsuit is "legal" if the water temperature is below 78 degrees.

7)  Do I (or Why do I) have to become a member of USAT?  What is this $10 fee?
Every USAT sanctioned triathlon requires that each participant become a member for at least the day of the race (the $10 daily member fee).  If you plan to do more than 4 triathlons a year, then its worth it to purchase a year membership for $39.  With that membership you receive a fantastic magazine, too.  Its absolutely required.

8) Can I send in my registration via snail mail to avoid the processing fee?  Yes, there is a mail in option on IM Athlete (the registration page).
